Intensive Interview Coaching for PM candidates

My interview coaching practice is based on my experience as an interviewer and a coach. I conducted many hundreds of PM interviews at both Google and Meta, and have coached several hundred successful PM candidates in the past few years.

I can help you to strengthen your answers in all types of Product Management interviews: product design, analytical thinking, strategic thinking and behavioural/leadership topics. The best candidates demonstrate strong cognitive ability via top-notch communication skills — we will work on both parts as appropriate to improve your performance. Everything I do is 1:1 and tailored to your needs — we will focus on the areas where you have most room for improvement. This is not a course or a program, it’s personal coaching to give you the tools and the confidence to shine in interviews, increase your chances of success, and land your next role. A common theme in feedback from my interview coaching clients is “I succeeded in my interviews because you taught me how to think differently”.

It is structured learning — we’ll discuss and identify the areas where you have room to improve and create a plan to deliver those improvements. I will share the library of background reading containing articles I’ve written, interview guides and other supporting material for you to study between sessions.

My Approach

We will work on real questions, but I prefer not to do standard “mock interviews”. I have found it to be significantly more effective to coach using an interactive method — if you’re heading off course at any point you or I can pause the answer and switch into coach mode to discuss what might be causing you to falter. Although you will be tackling specific questions, at the same time you will be learning the underlying approaches so that you can confidently tackle any question. I do not teach any of the common frameworks — they are useful only to junior candidates, indeed in interviews at more senior levels they are a liability. Your approach to the question must be structured, but that is not the same as using a rigid framework.

During sessions I make detailed notes so that you can stay focused on your answers. The notes are in two parts: my commentary from your answer, which is essentially what I’d use as the basis for my write-up to the recruiter/hiring committee, and also my feedback on how to improve your answers to this type of question. The nuance of that second part is significant — it’s not feedback on how to answer the specific question better, it’s detailed guidance on how to improve your approach for all questions of that type.

Before each session we will agree which areas we’re going to focus on so that I can prepare questions. I will tailor the questions to suit the companies/roles that you are typically applying to. If you have job descriptions and/or interview rubrics for specific roles please share them with me (in confidence, of course).
